Being a part of the “Bible Belt” and being in a state where you are sure to find a church within every ten miles, one may assume a Christian perspective on the world is woven into the very confines of our being. However, we are easily persuaded by the culture we live in.
When you are surrounded by ideologies that are specifically attached to your community, location, and country, they sometimes go unnoticed as to how they’ve become an automatic way of thinking. So how can we be sure that we’re teaching our children and students a worldview that is pure and not filtered through the lens of our society?
In some ways, just getting through until winter break or summer break can sometimes feel like a neverending slog for students. During this time, they may begin to experience symptoms of burnout and may struggle to continue to the end of the academic year.
Even though we believe that school should be an engaging experience in which students enjoy growing and learning, we recognize that there comes a time in every student’s life where school lacks the same excitement which it does during other periods.
To combat this, we would like to discuss three key ways in which we as parents and guardians can help our students in preventing second-semester burnout.
We’ve all been there. The days are growing shorter, the weather is getting colder, and the world itself begins to feel sleepier. Thus, trudging to school and being forced to think can feel like more and more of a chore to your student.
The days seem to pass by slower and slower and your little one is getting harder and harder to wake up in the mornings. The advent season can sometimes cause this state of sluggishness as our students begin to experience the burnout common at the end of the semester.
As the weather turns colder and stores begin lining their windows with all sorts of holiday decorations, it is quite easy to get caught up in the pomp and circumstance surrounding the holiday season. However, we as Christians must remember the true meaning of the Advent season and what it means for us as individual believers, as well as for us as families.

North Carolina is a beautiful state, no matter the season. However, there is something appealing about being in the mountainous western area during autumn. With fall just arriving, we can start to see the leaves changing and the cooler weather coming.
Whether you are one who loves being adventurous in nature, gazing upon the magnificent mountains, trekking through caves and caverns or one who loves to sit down to enjoy pumpkin or apple treats, there is something for every member of your family here in western North Carolina.
